Gamida Cell is a cell therapy pioneer working to turn cells into powerful therapeutics. The company’s proprietary nicotinamide (NAM) technology leverages the properties of NAM to enhance and expand cells, creating allogeneic cell therapy products and candidates that are potentially curative for patients with hematologic malignancies. These include Omisirge®, an FDA-approved nicotinamide modified allogeneic hematopoietic progenitor cell therapy, and GDA-201, an intrinsic NK cell therapy candidate being investigated for the treatment of hematologic malignancies.

General Scope and Summary

The Director, Cell Therapy – Patient Services is a key role focused on ensuring that patients have timely access to therapy by mitigating access barriers. The Director, Cell Therapy – Patient Services will be the subject matter expert to develop and manage the patient and reimbursement assistance program, along with assisting and managing the logistical operations of the cell journey. He/she will be responsible for the overall operational processes for the following programs: case management team, reimbursement, patient assistance, copay assistance, travel/lodging support and patient cell journey tracking. The Director, Cell Therapy – Patient Services also will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all current and future Federal and state regulations, as they pertain to all patient related programs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a patient support function consisting of Sr Managers, Case Managers and Reimbursement Specialists
  • Develop and implement Cell Therapy – Patient Services goals in alignment with Commercial and Corporate goals
  • Create and maintain Policies, SOPs, Program Forms, and Work Instructions
  • Support the development, testing and implementation of Patient Portal and Case Management Tracking System
  • Organize and lead cross functional meetings with Manufacturing and Supply chain to ensure operational alignment and identification of potential execution issues
  • Assist in developing and executing integrated launch readiness plans with Commercial, Customer Experience, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Legal
  • Partner in development of dry run process for customer account readiness
  • Support all aspects of account activation
  • Develop and execute patient services training for commercial teams and other internal partners
  • Monitor all activities of patient cell journey (including but not limited to: patient identification, processes, receipt of material, shipment of final product and PO processing)
  • In partnership with Market Access, monitor payer coverage and reimbursement issues and assist in resolutions, as appropriate
  • Manage 3rd party vendors for financial assistance program
  • Continuously monitor for changes on federal and state regulations that may impact patient and reimbursement assistance programs
  • Manage financial aspects of various assistance programs with third party administrator and Finance; develop the Company’s Travel/Lodging Program, Co-Pay and Patient Assistance budgets and coordinate program spend and forecast with Finance

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • 7 years or more of reimbursement/ patient services management experience in pharmaceuticals/biotech
  • 5 or more years of leadership/ people management experience
  • Knowledge of Cell Therapy operations, preferred
  • A/B.S preferred; science related field preferred
  • Healthcare Administration/Policy or Social Work experience a plus, but not required

Travel: Up to 25%

Reports to: Senior VP Market Access & Cell Therapy Operations

Base Salary : $235,000
